Finding Designs

Upon installation, the system creates a special working folder, where all resizable standards are stored. By default, the path to this folder is C:\EngView Work\Standards Library\mm\Standards. The user can select a needed standard by simple browsing through the hierarchically arranged structure of folders, subfolders and files. Library Classification is divided into two main groups - Corrugated Board, Folding Carton, PVC Packaging and Grey Board Boxes. The first group contains standards from the FEFCO international code, as well as non-classified corrugated board designs created at EngView Systems. Respectively, the Folding Carton group contains standards of the ECMA international code, and a separate group of EngView Systems cardboard designs. All files in the library are organized by common attributes, properly named, and convenient for identification with previews of their structure. The PVC Packaging and Grey Board Boxes groups contain EngView-designed resizable structures only.

Current Help System structure follows the EngView Library structure. Moreover, it can be used as a search engine, i.e. it is convenient to search and open a respective design directly from the Help System. Each group of Library Standards is represented by an index page in the Help System, containing 2-D previews of the designs and links to all their modifications, if any exist. Clicking a 2-D image or the underneath links takes you to detailed information about the current design and its 3-D view.

EngView Library Classification

EngView Library of Resizable Designs is organized into groups, levels, folders and files. Opening the Library reveals three main groups, depending on the package material: Corrugated Board, Folding Carton, PVC Packaging and Grey Board Boxes. The Corrugated group has two subgroups: EngView Corrugated Standards and FEFCO Standards. The Folding Carton group is divided into two subgroups: ECMA Standards and EngView Standards. The PVC Packaging group and Grey Board Boxes group contain of EngView standards only.

  • FEFCO Library is organized into folders named and numbered the same way as it is accepted in the international code (for example containers 0200, boxes 0300 and etc. When searching for a specific corrugated design, the user has first to find the relevant folder according to the type of design he needs, then explore the files inside according to their numbering.
  • ECMA standards are grouped into folders following an alphabetical order — A, B, C, D, E, F, and X. The user can orient himself according to the name of the standard and, after opening a folder, search for the file by name.
  • Designs created by the EngView Systems designers are purposely elaborated for easy and precise search. While browsing the library, you firstly meet the main groups of packages - Glued or Non Glued Boxes, Trays, Inserts, Displays, Folders and etc. Next level reveals duly named folders with designs, grouped according to their geometrical shapes. The last level contains folders with standards, grouped according to their top or bottom parts.

General Use Procedure for Finding Designs

  1. Open the Select New Project dialog box: click the New Project button or select File | New..., then select From Resizable Design from the Material dialog box that pops up.

  2. Under Project Properties, in the fields add information that pertains to the current project.

  3. Under Material, enter the respective information about the material that will be used in the project: for base type, material name, material type and thickness.

  4. Find design that you want: browse the Library in the Next dialog box that pops up until you find the respective design (e.g. 0200 Half Slotted Container (HSC).evr)

  5. Open design that you want: click Finish or double-click the respective file.
